HotChillee London-Paris 2016 - information about the start

This year the HotChillee London-Paris 2016 will see the first ever closed circuit start. This means there there are several changes to the usual start which riders should make themselves aware of.

Sign on Date: Thursday 26th May 2016

Time: Parking and Luggage Drop is available from 05:00 to 06:00 Sign On is open from 06:00 to 06:45 car parking and luggage drop

Free parking: is available at Ebbsfleet International, Car Park D from 05:00 Thursday 26th May until 18:00 Sunday 29th May. Please note you can not park your car at the Cyclopark.

Once you have parked your vehicle you will be greeted by HotChillee crew and given a luggage label, bike box label (if applicable) and musette & label. If you don’t require parking you must still go to Ebbsfleet to collect your luggage label and musette & label.

Directions to ebbsfleet international

By Car

Sat Nav postcode: DA10 1EB - Then follow signs for HotChillee parking. Driving directions from the M25: Leave at junction 2 and join the A2 east following signs for Canterbury. Go past the Bluewater junction and Ebbsfleet is the next exit. Then follow signs for HotChillee parking.

From Ashford Area: Leave the M20 towards London at Junction 6 and follow the A220 to Chatham/Maidstone. Take the first exit at Cobtree roundabout to Chatham and follow the signs to the M2 and London M25. Continue on the A2 and take the exit for the B259. Then follow signs for HotChillee parking.

From Canterbury Area: Follow the A2 (M) towards London and after Gravesend follow the signs for Ebbsfleet. Then follow signs for HotChillee parking.
By Train

You can arrive by train with direct services run by LSER (London and South Eastern Railway) to Ebbsfleet International Station. If you can’t reach it direct then it’s just a 10 minute walk from Northfleet domestic station which is serviced by the North Kent Line.

By Taxi

There is a licensed taxi rank immediately outside the doors on the Eastern side of the station. Then follow signs for HotChillee parking.

Luggage label

Each participant is allowed one piece of luggage per person. You must secure your luggage label to your luggage and give it to the DHL crew who will transport it to Folkestone (the finish of Stage 1) for you.

Bike box label

If you are leaving us in Paris and need your bike box/bag transported there you can purchase Bike Box Transportation. If you have purchased this you will also be given a BIKE BOX LABEL which should be attached to your box/bag and then given to the DHL crew who will transport it to Paris for you. The box/bag will be available to you again in Paris at the finish.

Musette & label

Your musette should be used each day to carry any items you need to access during the day i.e. arm warmers, rain jacket, nutrition, etc. Please ensure you have packed your musette with any items you need for Stage 1 and that your musette label with your rider number is attached.

Getting to the start (cyclopark)

Once you have handed over your luggage to DHL and prepared your musette you need to cycle from Ebbsfleet to the Cyclopark (start venue). This is a short ride (10 minutes) on a cycle path which will be signed and marshalled by HotChillee crew.

Sign on

On arrival at the Cyclopark you need to rack your bike and go straight to the Sign On desk. You must sign on between 06:00 and 06:45. Here you will collect your Ride Pack.


There is tea/coffee and bacon baps (and vegetarian option) available at the Cyclopark between 06:00 and 06:45.

rider briefing

A rider briefing will take place at 06:45. Here you will be introduced to your Ride Captains and given an overview of the Individual Time Trial and Stage 1.

individual time trail (itt) & seeding

The ITT will start at 07:00 and will be one lap of the circuit. Your time will be used to seed you into your speed group for the event. This lap will also represents the Green ‘Sprint’ section for Stage 1.

stage 1 (yellow) general classification

Following the ITT each speed group will be invited to ride six laps of the circuit which will be timed and will represent the General Classification (GC) section for Stage 1. These laps are optional for Groups 3, 4 and 5.

Once the GC is completed each speed group will depart for the remaining 100km of Stage 1 as follows:
